Antiquing Around Town

Saturday I decided to hit up a few antique malls I had not been to in quite some time as well as one I had never been to. There was SO much beauty to take in that I was almost overwhelmed. I think one of the greatest things about antiquing is that you can find items in all price ranges. You can enjoy being surrounded by luxury and one of a kind items, but you can still find wallet friendly accessories too. Antiquing is really great for any budget and style.
I took a number of snapshots of my favorite items and booths that I thought I would share. Enjoy today's antiquing photo dump!

These two items, along with a set of pink glasses, blue and white vase and a blue and covered covered urn made their way home with me. I think it was a successful day or antiquing!

Friday Five

KAG has named the most DARLING earring for me! To say I am flattered would be an understatement. These are the perfect color to wear year round and I just LOVE that they are trimmed in gold rather than silver. You can dress them up or down, either way they are a must-have to match your favorite preppy and chic duds!

2. Blue and White for under $50
Garden Ridge does have some deals on blue and white. While most garden stools cost $200+ theirs are a mere $49! The umbrella stands were just $20. Now if only they had had ginger jars....

3. Halloween Headbands
Michael's has hands down the best selection of Halloween headbands. I saw this display as soon as they set it up and tried almost everyone on. I am waiting for my next 40% off coupon to go back and score one...or two...or three.

4. Refreshing Citrus, Cucumber and Mint Water
Apparently. many say this water is also a detox water, but I drink it because I like the taste. I use a tangerine, a grapefruit, half a cucumber and some mint to make my refresher.

5. My $28 chair!

A New Staple

Out with the old...

 and in with the new!

I spied with amazing hand painted bird and bamboo chest of drawers when I popped into an antique mall this past weekend. I stared at it for some time before moving on and scoring a whitewashed Chinese Chippendale chair for $28. However, as soon as I got home I knew I had made a mistake in leaving it there. Thanks to Twitter and Instagram friends (I FINALLY joined and can be found taking pictures over at @kappaprep) my mistake was confirmed. I headed back on Sunday and the darling chest was still in the booth, unsold which I took as a sign. I snatched it up then and there, along with two "Made in England" Blue Willow plates, and fit it in my trunk before heading back to Dallas and moving it upstairs all my myself (this was my workout for the week).

I just love how the colors and bamboo fit right in with my chairs and the bird accents pick up the prints in on the opposite wall. It was meant to be I think. Now I just need to hand the new sconces my mother sent and things will be looking good.

Sadly, the new chest meant the bar cart had to go since there is just no room to spare at the inn. It was a good run and such a great piece. It sold within a few hours on Craiglist and went to a very, very happy home!

DIY Glitter Ballet Flats

I have been wanting to make glitter ballet flats for sometime now. I guess my last glitter shoe DIY project made me itch...as did the prices of glitter flats at the mall! So, on Saturday I finally took the plunge...
I purchased a pair of $20 ballet from Target. Lucky for me I wanted to use gold glitter and mustard yellow is very in for the upcoming Fall season so I was able to get those. Though pink or bright blue would be very fun and add a pop of color I wanted the trim and ribbon on my shoes to match the gold so the mustard was the perfect fit for me.

I followed the same steps I did to make my glitter heels. You can find the instructions HERE if you are interested in making your own.

The entire process is very easy and my biggest recommendation is to not be stingy when you are taping off the trim, heel and bow detail. Also, one small thing I did change was when I removed said tape. Instead of waiting for the shoes to dry overnight I removed the tape as soon as the white ModgePodge turned clear. This was a much better way to go as the glitter mixture was not yet hard and could be flattened with my fingers and adjusted to fill in areas where the tape would normally have ripped it away.

 My shimmering result!

I just LOVE the way these turned out and I think they look identical to those that cost 10 times as much!  My project cost was exactly $19.99 since I bought my shoes over tax free weekend and already had all the other supplies from my past DIY glittering project. This projects takes about 90 minutes so it is a great evening or Saturday afternoon project that would even be fun for a younger set.

Lilly Pulitzer Reversible Shift/Gecko Skirt, Size 4P (fits like a 0/2)- SOLD
This skirt was one of my very first Lilly purchases. I lost the original and tried to replace it via eBay, but the seller neglected to include that the above was a petite size. This skirt is not a true 4, but would suit a 0/2.

GIRLS Lilly Pulitzer Reversible Skirt, Size 8- $20 (what I paid- shipping is on me!)
Another eBay fail on part. I thought this darling skirt was a Misses size, but was sadly mistaken. It is two of my VERY favorite prints so I wanted to offer it up to a reader before putting it on eBay. This would be great for someone in search of HTF Lilly fabrics as well...two in one!

HTF Lilly Pulitzer A Line Dress with Beading, Size 0- SOLD
This dress is simply stunning! The cut is incredibly flattering, the beading is exquisite (and in perfect condition) and the colors are fun but still sophisticated. It looks far more expensive than it is (I believe this retailed for $298). This dress was only worn one time for a a few hours and is in perfect condition.

J Crew Pleated Oxford Shirt Dress, Size 2- SOLD
I have simply loved this dress, but the length is just a tad short on me now that I am aging :) This is a fun take on a classic shirt dress making it extremely practical.

Lilly Pulitzer Firefly Dress, Size 4-$30
Another old school and favorite Lilly print...one that even glows in the dark! This dress is really the perfect summer dress. The halter is not too low cut so it can be worn during the day with a cardigan and sandals and then with wedges sans cardigan for a night out.

Lilly Pulitzer Monkey Krista Dress, Size 6- SOLD
A fun yet practical Lilly. This is a great dress for someone that might not want to take the Lilly print plunge. I picked this up two weeks ago at a local Dallas resale shop, but sadly it is a tad big for me. My Lilly loss is your gain!

NWT Dillard's Tahari Ruffle One Shoulder Dress, Size 4- $30
I snatched this dress up earlier this summer and planned to wear it to a dinner. In the end I went with something else so I have yet to wear this pretty. I cannot remember what I paid for this (the tag is marked $42) so I have priced this flirty chiffon dress to sell. This would be a great piece to transition into Fall.

Calypso Silk Wrap Dress, Size XS- $40
Those of you that have been around for a few years know how much I love my Calypso wrap dresses (I am pricing this one to sell too!). They are perfect for work, travel and play. They can be worn different ways, so again, a great day to night dress. Another great year round dress...wear it as is now and then pair it with black tights and a cardigan come Fall!

Jessica Howard A-Line Linen Dress, See details for SIZING- SOLD
This dress is marked as a size 10, but it has been altered to fit a 4. Sadly, even the alterations did not make this fit me correctly and I am heartbroken to have to let this go. This lovely would best fit a B chest. The style  of the dress is so flattering and the lace detailing is an added bonus.

VHTF Lilly Pulitzer Lilly Pooloza Newbury Tunic, Size XS- SOLD
This tunic is very hard to find as this print was incredibly popular and I personally think it can be worn year round. The tunic has lovely navy sequin detailing on the front only which spices it up. This has been professionally cleaned and is ready for a happy new home on you!

JCrew Wool Zebra Cardigan, Size M- SOLD
This pretty has 3/4 sleeves and lovely satin ribbon detailing. This does not button like a regular cardigan, but rather has three hook and eye closures in the middle. There is one small spot on the ribbon detailing which is not very noticeable (please email if you would like a photo). This runs small and is comparable to a size Small.

SteinMart Sparkle Blazer, Size 4- SOLD
This blazer is fun and chic. Not only is there sparkle thread weaved in (see the lines) but it has rhinestone buttons as well. This looks great paired with jeans for a chic, casual look or with a skirt of the office.

Lilly Pulitzer White Balleta Skort, Size 6- SOLD
Every girl needs a pair of white shorts and the more fun, the better! The side ties on these shorts make them unique and the pleats make them more fun.

Pink Glitter Toms, Size 9.5- SOLD
I love me some Toms, but my gold glitter Toms seem to get worn four times as often as my pink pair. These are in great condition and in need of a happy, new, pretty in pink home.

Lilly Pulitzer Light Pink Patent McKims, Size 9.5- SOLD
These McKims go with just about anything! They have been worn a handful of times and are truly in amazing condition and have years of lift left in them.

Lilly Pulitzer Point Giraffe Calf Hair Flats, Size 9.5- SOLD
I am all about the pointy flats, but have three other animal print pairs that it is time to let these go. These flats have been worn about ten times and the calf hair on the toes has started to come off. The shoes are still in great condition and unless you look at them full on in front this is not too noticeable.
