DIY Glitter Ballet Flats

I have been wanting to make glitter ballet flats for sometime now. I guess my last glitter shoe DIY project made me itch...as did the prices of glitter flats at the mall! So, on Saturday I finally took the plunge...
I purchased a pair of $20 ballet from Target. Lucky for me I wanted to use gold glitter and mustard yellow is very in for the upcoming Fall season so I was able to get those. Though pink or bright blue would be very fun and add a pop of color I wanted the trim and ribbon on my shoes to match the gold so the mustard was the perfect fit for me.

I followed the same steps I did to make my glitter heels. You can find the instructions HERE if you are interested in making your own.

The entire process is very easy and my biggest recommendation is to not be stingy when you are taping off the trim, heel and bow detail. Also, one small thing I did change was when I removed said tape. Instead of waiting for the shoes to dry overnight I removed the tape as soon as the white ModgePodge turned clear. This was a much better way to go as the glitter mixture was not yet hard and could be flattened with my fingers and adjusted to fill in areas where the tape would normally have ripped it away.

 My shimmering result!

I just LOVE the way these turned out and I think they look identical to those that cost 10 times as much!  My project cost was exactly $19.99 since I bought my shoes over tax free weekend and already had all the other supplies from my past DIY glittering project. This projects takes about 90 minutes so it is a great evening or Saturday afternoon project that would even be fun for a younger set.
