Three Years and Counting

February 14th, 2009 started off as any other day. However by 1pm that afternoon my entire family knew it would not end as such. We got very grim news that my cousin Henry, who was on a church ski trip, had been in a serious accident and was being flown to the nearest ICU. However, as difficult as that day was, each day got better and better...

"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord,
"plans to prosper you and not harm you...
plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Three years later our family still feels SO incredibly blessed that cousin Henry is not only here, but thriving! If you are new to my blog you can read about Henry's life altering ski accident and the IMPORTANCE of ALWAYS wearing a helmet here, here and here. While Henry still faces partial paralysis on the left side of his body he continues to embrace life to the fullest. Though he is unable to do things many of us take for granted Henry really is thriving and is able to live life as any other 16 year old for the most part (he will soon get his license!!!!). I, as well as my entire family, will forever be grateful for the thoughts and prayers you sent our way three years ago. God is SO good and today we rejoice for the life He has given us!!!

Wow three years.
Your cousin is testament to the fact that there are miracles and prayers do work.
I have a sister who is 10 yrs out from a bone marrow transplant for stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and she had a 10 % chance of living.
Prayers for your cousin for continued recovery.

I don't comment much, but I also remember this post and wanted to let you know that it prompted me to force everybody in my family to wear helmets during our next family ski trip! Glad to hear that Henry is doing well.

That was three years ago?? Feels like last year. I was recently thinking about Henry actually and wondering how he was doing (clearly great- that's so awesome!). I just can't believe it was three years ago though...
