Pink Swap Partners

PHEW! Below is the list of swap partners. Everyone included either sent me an email or left a comment WITH their email before the deadline. Some of you will have to find your partner on the list and then go back to the swap sign-up comments to find your partners email. Since there were SO many sign-ups you might want to double check the comments for your partners email regardless (I could EASILY have written or typed it incorrectly). Remember to email your partners by Wednesday to start coordinating and of course, be sure to review and follow all swap guidelines. Also, if for some reason should be unable to follow through please email me and also notify your partner.

Lusting Over

Well, I think it is safe to say you all know I love to sport my bright colors and patterns. So, it could very well come as a shock to you that I am all about my neutral too. In fact, I have a black cable knit sweater on with the darkest wash denim I own as I type- shocking, huh? Anyhow, I was recently perusing the racks at Neimans and a few of my favorite sites and fell in love with several classic neutrals:
This skirt is almost too perfect. From the big bow to the the heavy satin to the classic color it has it all. I am thinking it might be just what the fashion police want me to wear for a Super Bowl event next weekend...
I think it would lovely paired with the above top too. You could go black on black, but I am thinking cream might be my top choice- always a stunning combination.

Since I would be proudly sporting my neutrals I would take full advantage of wearing all my amethyst jewelry. Of course these lovely duds could use a purple bag to pull everything together...a girl can dream, right??

Have a wonderful weekend! I will be closing comments on the Pink Swap post at 2pm EST and will post partners Friday evening or Saturday morning so sign up and then stay tuned!

Five MUST Haves

Dearest Muffy over at Muffy Martini has tagged me. She has asked me to share five items I cannot leave home without. After some debate here are my top five MUST haves whenever I step out.

1. My Blackberry: I have two and both are always with me. They are my lifeline to my family, friends, work, etc. If I need directions I whip it out. If I need a phone number or need to call a restaurant, I whip it out. If I need to tell someone I am running late, out it comes yet again. You get the picture, Blackberry or bust in Hopsy's world.

2. Wallet: There is NO fun when this is not around. No driving, no spending. It is like my second lifeline!

3. Lipstick and Lip gloss: I do use both. Right now I am all about Extreme Pink lipstick by Clinique with Bobby Brown Brightening Gloss in Popsicle over it. It is just enough pink with the right about of gloss. Perfection on the lips!

4. My Agenda: I do not keep my personal calendar on my Blackberry because I like to write everything down and be able to make notes (directions to a venue or all the guests coming to dinner, etc). Thus, my agenda is always by side. This year I am using the 18 month Lilly Pulitzer agenda. The bright color always makes it easy to spot in my bag.

5. Cuticle Cutters: Call me crazy (and gross), but I cannot travel without these...at least I am honest, right? My mother HATES them and all my roomates and Greystone campers can attest to my addiction to this AMAZING product. I will admit I do not ALWAYS carry these in my purse (it is gross to think about someone using them in a restaurant or sitting on a bench- no bueno), but I sure often wish I did (I would go in a bathroom, do not worry). On the contrary there is never a time these are not in a suitcase when on a trip. In fact, I forgot them on my last MN trip and had to go buy a new pair since I cannot stand being able to feel the skin growing too far up under my nail (I know, I know, call me crazy yet again).

Now that I have listed my five MUST haves I want to know what some of yours are. If you do not have a blog feel free to leave yours in a comment. Otherwise I tag the following bloggers:

My Funny Valentine

I can hardly believe February is almost here and we almost officially have one month of 2011 behind us. Hard to believe that just a month ago we were celebrating Christmas! Well, if you live in Dallas or if you are a football fan February is the month of the Super Bowl, but for the rest of you is simple means Valentine's Day is almost here!
I always loved making Valentine's when I was younger (and actually have the cutest idea up my sleeve for 2011 which I will share in February), but this year I was pleased to find so many fun, pre-made cards we can send.
These Kate Spade electronic notes are not new, but I still adore them. They have so many darling options, but the above was at the top of my list.
Hearts with Pink Polka Dot Envelopes- $8
Paper Source is a one stop shop when making Valentines, isn't it? While I have to admit I do wish these heart shaped notes were hot pink (they come in hot pink, but the red/pale polka dot is a combo), these are still darling as can be. Write an encouraging note to a friend and pop the fun envelope in the mail!
Crane never lets me down (perhaps they can inspire Wren Press and The Printery to make more "greeting" cards???) and what better way to tell someone they hold the key to your heart than the above card?
I LOVE all things Alexa Pulitzer and could hardly contain myself when I found the above Valentine's note on her site. Is it not stunning?
"Float My Boat" Letterpress Card- $6
This card makes me laugh because I feel as if I always use this phrase. Luxe Paperie also has a "Whatever Peels Your Banana" card!
"Spread the Love"-$25
ABD has a wonderful line of Valentine's post cards, several of which give back. Buy a set and do some good this year!
"I'm Sweet on You" Card- $4.50
Such a cute phrase on a more retro looking card- darling, darling, darling!
"Your are as sweet as sugar" cards- 4 for $20
I LOVE my New Year's cards I sent from Mr. Boddington and they have once again been "sweet" to us with their Valentine selection.
We need to petition for Annechovie to make this print into cards for Valentine's day. How cute with this be to hand someone one with a delectable treat?!
Which is your favorite Valentine? I adore them all and might have to send out multiple notes this February. Also, now that February is on our minds be sure to check back later this week as I will be holding sign ups for my annual PINK exchange.

Casino

I have been on overload recently, but promise to get back to regularly posting this week. I even have several items for a blog sale which will likely post Monday evening. In the meantime, here is a photo from last night:
This past weekend we had our annual Casino gala for Cotillion Club. It was a fabulous evening and the views of Dallas could not have been any more spectacular (the chairs were a different story, but you give and take, right?!). We were 70 stories above the city and enjoy dancing and gaming all evening!

3am Friends

Throughout my life, even though I have never really been in one place for too long, I have always been blessed to have loads and loads of friends. It has always been relatively easy for me to meet people and converse since I can be rather talkative. In fact, when I moved to Dallas four years ago I actually only knew two people. Whenever I think back to that time it makes me so grateful for how far I have come. While I am incredibly lucky I will admit I still have some friends who constantly leave me hanging and make me do all the work. So, with the new year still fresh I have started to ask myself "Who are my 3am friends?" What is a 3am friend you may ask? Well, and please note that I made this term up (nothing official or fancy at all), they are the friends you can call or text at any hour of the day and no matter what they are doing they will pick up or answer your text. They are the friends that will commit to something, but not back out even if something far more fabulous comes along. They are the friends that always include you and invite you to things even when they know you are busy and will say no. They are your BEST friends and they will be there through thick AND thin! It can be hard to let go of the friendships for which you have put worth all the effort, but there comes a time when you I think you have to be selfish. Sometimes, you just naturally grow apart from people, but there are other instances when reality sets in. When someone constantly lets you down or neglects to include you it only upsets you in the end. I feel like I have finally learned that "friends" like that are not are friends on the surface level.
I have SO many wonderful friends that I know would go out of their way for me. Funny enough, and I NEVER would have dreamed I would write this in a million years, but many of them I have met through my blog. So, in 2011 and beyond it is my "3am friends" that I want surrounding me! They are the friends I want to call and laugh with in twenty years; the friends whose children's weddings we will all attend; the friends who will hold my hand through the good and the bad. They are and they will always be my best friends!

I Do!

The season of engagements is most certainly upon us- both in the time of year and this season of my life. I have been so lucky to share is this exciting time with several dear friends recently and have enjoyed celebrating with them. I guess you could say we have started a tradition of throwing intimate engagement luncheons and celebrations and this past Saturday we held another for Kristin.
The luncheon was held in the Zodiac at Neimans. We could not go all out with decor here for obvious reasons, but we added touches where we could. Since Kristin's ring was from Tiffany's we ran with the Tiffany blue theme. I made glitzy place cards for us all- sparkle, sparkle from all areas of our table (and fingers) on Saturday!
If you follow me on Twitter you likely also saw my chocolate covered pretzels with pearls, these were the favors. I mixed the chocolate until I got the right color of blue and the popped the edible pearls on before it hardened. I had also made monogram gift tags with Kristin's new initials which I tied on each favor, I love how these turned out; most certainly a sweet treat!
We ordered petit fours through Neimans and they were divine. We had them run with the theme as well. The dainty blue flowers were the perfect, feminine touch!
Emily made a lovely arrangement of white blooms. It looked perfect on the table next to all the other trinkets and sweets.
We had a fabulous lunch celebrating Kristin and this special time in her life! Good friends and Neimans never ever let you down!

What Can a Dollar Get You?

Well, it can get you numerous items off the McDonald's breakfast menu (I have a soft spot for a sausage biscuit and a hash brown) and it can get you oodles of gifts and trinkets at Michaels!
Last night I popped into Michaels to pick up a few paper goods to use in a place card making project I am doing for this weekend. I just so happened to stumble on their revamped dollar section and could not get enough. They had the BEST assortment of items I have ever seen...
I loved all these cards! The drawings were whimsical and could be paired with other items in their matching collection (see recipe boxes below) for a fun hostess gift. I thought the foil pineapple and gold cards were tres chic for just a $1. They are actually a lovely linen paper- much more elegant than you would think in my opinion.
The recipe boxes also had matching cards as well as gift tags, note cards and magnets. Again, go grab a few sets, wrap in cello and you have an instant gift on a budget!
The Shabby Chic notebooks and note cards reminded me of the Kate Spade rose collection circa 2000.
The pens in the collection were very fun and perfect for a preppy purse!
I have a soft spot for folders and fell.in.love with the pink and green ballerina flats! I bought several packs (you get four for a $1) and cannot wait to put these to good use. There were also rubber stamps and note pads that went with this collection.
Every desk should be stocked with whimsical pencils! I think they make working fun and the days fly by.
Wouldn't these note cards be perfect for a Tiffany's bridal shower or luncheon?
This fun collection reminded me of Dorothy Draper and the Greenbrier. I adore fun Kleenex and what better than some with your initial?
I fell in love with the above square cards. The Greek key and lattice went right into my basket.
Even though it was a mere 40 degrees in Dallas yesterday these bright colors and happy prints reminded me that Spring is near!
I most certainly had a successful Michaels outing last night. However, even as successful as it was, thanks to the dollar section, it did not break the bank!
