Guest Room and Master

Last night, when I got home my entire door was blocked by boxes...eight HUGE boxes. Why does one receive eight boxes you might ask? Well, my wonderful mother sent me all the bedding for the guest bedroom! I just purchased the twin beds over Labor Day weekend and they were sitting sad and undressed in the second bedroom until last night. Now, before I show you all the photos I realize that many of you are not into floral fabrics like my mother and I are, but there is no need for you to tell me that. I LOVE how the guest room looks and hopefully all my guests will to!

The shade still needs to be adjusted a bit, but it works perfectly on this door/window (Side note:I really wish that window up top did not exist, but you win some and lose some when house hunting).
Here is a sneak peak of the beds. A full on view will have to wait until I purchase new pillows. The headboards are also still up in Minnesota, but they are done in the purple check fabric and piped in the floral of the curtains/blanket covers.
Mother also included a shower curtain and it has made the bathroom come alive! I need to purchase a second curtain rod to hang the valance that matches, but so far so good. I will be sure to post another photo once that is up!
Finally, I realized that I have never posted a photo of my bedroom anywhere other than Twitter, and it was only in the background of an OOTD post. My bedroom is still a work in progress...ie. the curtains have yet to be ordered (I am thinking of doing balloon shades in the matching pink and white toile) and I need new bedside tables as well. However, everything is certainly coming along and I am thrilled with how things are turning out! You can rest (tee hee) assured everyone will be sleeping soundly in my home!

Florals always remind me of our honeymoon at The Grand Hotel! So Dorothy Draper. I love them and the great memories! Very pretty Hopsy.

I love your headboard! Everything is beautiful, Hopsy. I'm curious though. Why did you choose to do twin beds in your guest room instead of a full?

You need to get MY pillows, STAT. I mean, I have no job so what if i want to hop the next flight and visit. Clearly you need to get your priorities straight.

Have you considered hanging the shade above the top window? It looks like it might be long enough to still cover the top of the blinds and then it wouldn't interfere with opening the doors...maybe the length isn't right, but just a suggestion.

I LOVE florals! I also have twin beds in my guest room. Thanks for sharing the photos.

The floral is YOU. That's what matters. It looks beautiful

The twins were a smart choice. I have a full, and my nieces fight over the covers all night!!

Can't wait to see your finishing touches.

I like the bedroom colors, I would maybe try a balloon shade in a contrasting bottle green/blue green? Or even a darker pink/red, like the one I see in your accent pillows? Make the headboard the centerpiece :) Lovely!

Fabulous. Love the florals. A beautiful print. So countryside England. I agree with Farrell and Lauren's suggestion. Try it. You can always go back. The eye flow would improve and it takes care of the top window problem.

I love how colorful everything is! Unfortunately the hubs has an opinion on all home decor so I cant go as bright as I'd like to.

I really wish the balloon shade would have worked to cover the other window, but sadly the proportions were off and it looked odd hung at the height and did not fall correctly :(

I think everything looks charming. I have always preferred classic home décor to something trendy. You have put so much effort into your place and it shows!!

It looks great! I love the contrasting ruffle on the top of the shower curtain. So girly! I bet gold night stands would look cute with your pink bedroom.

The florals are very sweet. To each their own. I think you are to florals as I am to chinoiserie!

Love the tour of your new home Hopsy!

One way to solve the dilemma of the small windows above the large window in your guest room is doing a swag of your complimentary fabric underneath your floral and then hanging your rod above.

This would give your valance the fullness and length you need to cover the small windows and have the window read as taller.

Forgot to ask if you have seen this beautiful print? Thought of you and your beautiful blue room when I saw it at Design Sponge.

I love your choice of fabric! Florals can be so beautiful. I think they get a 'bad rap' sometime! Your room is woman's dream, sigh! So pretty.

I like the fabric! I have a few things I have saved to pass on to my daughters when they are out of college.... in 1 1/2 years. I just recently redid some rooms and I have saved all of the window treatments for them, hopefully something will work. Have you thought of moving the valance that is above the door over the window above. The higher you can raise a curtain the taller the ceilings will look. It is just a thought. It does look great the way it is too. Your place is looking great!

You have done such a fabulous job of decorating your new home. And you've accomplished so much, so quickly! Kudos to you and your mother for inspiring me to finally hang my beloved Wedgwood Dartmouth College plates.
