Life, Lilly and the Pursuit of Happiness

Well, they say all good things must come to an end and this past weekend was the end of an era...it was my very last day working at Lilly Pulitzer NorthPark. Sadly, the Lilly store in NorthPark is closing (from what I understand this has nothing to do with the company and lots to do with the mall but I am unsure of alllll the facts). When I first heard the news back in November I was completely shocked along with the rest of my friends/employees. Our store has met and exceeded every goal, but alas, it was time for a change I guess. In my opinion this very dreary situation was in need of a proper pink and green goodbye, so on my last day I provided just that!
I baked cake balls and picked up some easy and delicious treats for us employees to enjoy while reminiscing of our favorite Lilly times. We talked about our favorite items, the items we wish we had bought...mine was another Jubilee Kissing Ball at the warehouse sale for $5. Cassie, Jennifer and Christen however forbid me to buy it since it had a TINY crack....they will try to tell you it was a HUGE hole, do not believe them, it really was a hairline crack.
Sunday was the perfect send off for my favorite lifestyle brand!
I am going to be so sad when I visit NorthPark in 2011 and my beloved home away from home is no more. However, I firmly believe this is only "goodbye for a little while" (as said in Titanic)! While I cross my fingers that Lilly will someday reopen in Dallas I have a closet full of preppy prints to keep me warm and a handful of Lilly loving friends to reminisce with!

PS- is there any Lilly piece you wish you had bought but did not??

That's too bad, sorry to hear the LP store is closing! I remember when they closed the LP store in Hinsdale, IL. Lots of talk, but "supposedly" it was b/c of the rent? Last time I drove by the spot was still vacant...sucks, guess it's a sign of the times! :(

Great way to say good-bye! I hope it's the "mall" and not a sign of the Lilly times. Merry Christmas!! xoxo

What?! I was just in last week and had no idea I should have been saying my goodbyes. Sad, stopping in to see the pretty colorful prints brightened every Northpark trip.

This is such a shame, I wish you could have made those yummy-looking cake balls for a fun occasion.:(

Oh Hopsy that is so sad. And surprising given the are you live in too. There was a skirt out several years ago- like six years or more actually. It was long- to the floor. Blue, white and yellow- large flowers. I have no idea what it or the print are called but I can picture it still today. I've yet to find it on ebay in my size. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Which is funny because I don't wear many long skirts and own about two things in the color blue. But I completely regret not buying that skirt. It was just such a clean and classic print and piece. Sniff. I'll find it one day....I hope!

So sad but so cute you ended it on a fun note!!! I wish I would have bought a pair of white jeans with ribbons at the bottom from spring 2006 but oh well and I'm sure there's more but I can't remember now!

Hopsy, so sad for you and everyone at the Northpark Lilly store. You guys have always been wonderful anytime I have "needed" something. At least you had a proper sendoff! Guess you'll have to visit Amy at Southlake now! LOVE HER - and everyone there. Big pink & green HUGS! XOXO
p.s. The one purchase I still regret not making? Coastal Caftan in Sunbathers....ahhhhh....dream piece of Lilly!

So sorry to hear this news. Hopefully, they'll open another store close to you sometime soon. I'd love to have a corporate store in the DC area.

Oh, that's really too bad! Sounds like you gave the store a good sendoff though. We only have a Lilly Via Shop in Boston and it's quite nice but just not the same as a real store.

OMG! There are so many pieces from the Jubilee line I wish I had picked up. So sad to hear about your store-- I know you loved working there. As you said, "All good things must come to an end!"

Hopsy, do you think this wall paper is neat or just too much?

There are lots of pieces I wish I had bought over the years.

Sorry your shop is closing!!

I thought of you today. I finally got one of the gel OPI manicures today (with a really pretty DARK color). OI am hoping it will last until the New Year!

Merry Christmas H!

Sad news-- I'm so sorry! I do hope a new store opens near you soon. I wish one would open near me-- the closest one is two west coast sized states away. Thank goodness for internet shopping! ;)

Aw that is sad news! I hope a new Lilly store does open there someday! As for a Lilly item I'm still kicking myself for not purchasing - the Fiesta dress in White Zin.
