Pink and Green Retreat

While flipping through last month's House Beautiful last night (yes, I am months behind on all my magazines!) I came across the most darling beach house in California. The owner of the Balboa Island getaway lives in London for the majority of the year but summers on the island where she made many childhood memories. This darling abode is a perfect example of going 'crazy' with color and bold prints. If you choose things wisely they will work together and create a divine getaway within your very own home!
The owner of the Balboa Island home and I share a love for more than just all things pink and green...we also LOVE elephants!
I love that the designer brought black polka dots into the home. While many of us view black to be serious and drab she proves us all wrong!
The shabby chic look of this bedroom makes me want to cozy up with a good book or fun DVD.
Though the bathroom is full of prints, like the rest of the house, it too still maintains clean lines.
What a whimsical photo! Aren't the light fixtures in the kitchen to die for?
Ah, vacation home decorating at it's finest!
I spy a Keep Calm and Carry On poster! I wonder if the resisdents know they can order one with an elephant motif from Annechovie? It would fit right in!
I personally think the watermelon on that table completes the entire look...don't you agree?
Moral of the story: too much is never enough!!

Love the pink refrigerator! I read in a magazine once that a little black anchors the room. Those polka dot stools are a good example.

What a great post Hopsy. I adored this when I read it and am so glad you posted it. I love that you love elephants. I'm a bunny person myself but don't tell many people for the fear of getting too many weird bunnies. I love the Herrend variety the most.

You are not alone, I have yet to look at my copy of House Beautiful.

I am so far behind on reading my magazine subscriptions, with exception to the Food Network's magazine. Can't wait to check it out. :)

You're the interior design & gift-giving guru! What should I get friends in Boston, MA for their new apartment? I am thinking a bottle of wine & a throw.

Your moral of the story is totally true, lady! I adore elephants as a decorating concept - we had some Filipino ones that my grandfather brought from overseas in the living room growing up. They always add a different, yet classy touch!

Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures from Balboa Island. It was one of my most favorite places to visit when I lived in California. I just love how this home has all of the extra special touches that I dreamed my home should have...
