I love Thanksgiving, do not get me wrong, but I am so glad it is now time for Christmas!! I EVERYTHING about this time of year. From the drinks at Starbucks to the beautifully decorated houses to the lights in Highland Park Village (they are some of the very best you will ever see) to the excitement felt by all to the movies on TV, I just love this time of year! After the parade was said and done on Thursday the Christmas movies started to hit every channel and I could not have been any more thrilled. I have spent far too many hours in front of the TV caught up in these flicks. You just cannot beat be all bundled up with a cup of Laduree caramel tea or peppermint hot chocolate and a great film, can you!? Below are some of my favorites, what are your must watch holiday films?!
Home Alone:
The Holiday:
Love Actually:
White Christmas:
Jingle All the Way (I really just like this one because it was filmed in Edina!):
It's A Wonderful Life:
The Family Stone:
Miracle on 34th Street:

I love all of those movies!
Love Actually. I die. By the way, are you actually MOVING to India? Or just visiting? Please excuse my aging comprehension for not, um, comprehending.
Oh my goodness! Love actually is definitely one of my favorite movies!! The scene with the cards is TO DIE FOR! Adorable!!
"Love Actually" is the only one that really hurts me. I knew from the beginning that Emma Thompson's character was going to suffer and it totally ruined the movie for me. Although I might add, that I LOVED Hugh Grant and his character, I just happened to be crying way before the movie ended.
All I Want for Christmas is one of my all time favs!!!!
Love that the White Christmas video you posted was "Sisters"! That is the all time best. Love, love, love those girls clothes. So classic.
How fun! Thanks for sharing!
my *musts* for christmas are elf and love, actually.
All great choices, but you must take time to watch The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Young. Bliss!
OH, Thanks for the effort that went into this post. These movies just make me feel warm inside! Thanks Hopsy!! Are you moving to be with your mom and dad? I am so out of the loop. I need info ;-) xoxo
My favorites are The Family Stone, It's a Wonderful Live and Love Actually!! GREAT POST! XOXO
Love, Actually and The Family Stone are my two favorites in the past few years. Though Serendipity is a good (non traditional) holiday movie too.
I love watching Meet Me in Saint Louis, The Polar Express, and The Muppets Christmas Carol!
I love ALL of these movies. I need to start from the top of this list and work my way down this holiday season!
I've got a soft spot for "The Christmas Story" - Ralphie always cracks me up.
My long-time favorites are White Christmas, Christmas Vacation, Home Alone (both 1 and 2), Miracle on 34th Street (both versions!), and All I Want for Christmas. Last year I added in Love Actually and The Holiday to my list and if I have time I also really like Little Women, Meet Me in St Louis, and Christmas in Connecticut. WOW - that's alot, I am slightly embarassed :)
I love all of these movies...they are SO great! Thanks for sharing! :)
All great movies! My family watches "Miracle on 34th Street" every Christmas Eve!
I love all of these movies though The Holiday has a special place because of the people I saw it with. Great choices!
So glad that you included "All I Want for Christmas!" I thought I was the only one who knew that movie existed, much less enjoyed it! I had the biggest crush on Ethan! Happy Holidays!
I LOVE White Christmas - my all time favorite!! The family stone is too depressing for me. I love watching Home Alone to see that house- but the slapstick makes me nervous. Also, I caught the end of "the Santa Claus" and did you see that the mom got "Mystery Date" the cult 60's board game? I also love the super corny movies on Lifetime and Hallmark - it is an embarrassing obsession, but a yuletide tradition!
Do I own all these? Good heavens, I do!!!
Serious Christmas addiction...
xoxo
We love A Christmas Story at our house. And of course, Vivian loves Rudolph, but that's certainly not limited to Christmas around here!
"Sisters, Sisters" - holiday magic all year long!
