A long time go-to baked treat of mine (and mother's!) are Hello Dolly bars. Many of your also know these as Seven Layer Bars, I just stick to the fun name! Hello Dolly bars are a cinch to make and they are oh SO good. They always please the crowd and once you start eating them you just cannot stop!
The ingredients are all very basic and easy to find. To be honest I never ever measure when I make Hello Dolly bars, I just sort of eye it. The more the sugar, the better, right?!To make your Hello Dolly bar you will need:
Unsalted butter (a stick or two)
Graham cracker crumbs (about a cup)
Semisweet chocolate chips (a cup and a quarter)
Butterscotch chips (a cup and a quarter)
Shredded coconut (around a cup)
Chopped walnuts or pecans (around a cup)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Semisweet chocolate chips (a cup and a quarter)
Butterscotch chips (a cup and a quarter)
Shredded coconut (around a cup)
Chopped walnuts or pecans (around a cup)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Melt the butter and mix in the graham cracker crumbs (you can crush your own or buy the pie crust mix...like me). Spread the crust evenly around the pan. Then throw on your chocolate chips and some chopped nuts. I just sort of cover the crust/previous layer surface making sure not to double stack anything in each layer. Next you add on the butterscotch chips and your shredded coconut, again I just estimate. Finally, drizzle the condensed milk over the top and top it off with a few more chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. Do NOT mix these together!
Bake your Hello Dolly bars at 350 degrees for about 22 to 25 minutes. Let the bars cool 100% (I know it is super tempting to cut in, but it a huge disaster) then cut and enjoy! Mmmm, so delish! Hello Dolly bar prep takes no more than ten minutes so you can easily whip these up with little time to spare.
