As with many things WASPs always tend to lean towards the old brands and so it goes with WASPs and their shoes. WASPs like to stick with the classics. Two brands that immediatly come to mind when thinking of WASPy footwear are Belgian Shoes and Stubbs and Wootton.
Belgian Shoes were designed by Mr. Henri Bendel in the 1940's. Like all good shoes they are handmade by some of the world's best. There is one style that comes in an aray of colors (you can find up to three colors on one pair!) and types of leather. The oh-so-classic bow can also be replaced for a crest or crown from the companies collection. My very favorite is the initial crown, but the maroon and blue pair also called out my name as it would be perfect for Taft sporting events in the years to come!
If you have not ever stopped in to the darling, little Belgian Shoes store in the city you must pop in on your next visit, it is not to be missed!

(For the WASPy Kappa!)
Stubbs and Wooten has boutiques in all the WASPy locales, so even if you are not in the city often try the Palm Beach or Southhampton store. Who knows, you might even be as lucky as I was last November and hit them up on a day when the entire store is 50% off!!

This pair would not only match WASPy mother's closet, but the India condo as well!

Isn't this bow pair just DARLING?
Both Belgian Shoes and Stubbs and Wootton are wonderful house shoes, but they work well for travel too. They are most definetly a must addition for any WASP closet!
The best thing about the WASP lifestyle is that it never goes out of style. WASP shoes are classics that will last for ages and they will always be 'in'. You can buy a pair today and still wear it in 2080!

I love Stubbs and Wooton. I'm getting ready to order a couple of their velvet slippers for fall. I will wear them with my cordoruy slacks and ankle jeans. They dress up any casual outfit and look good with preppy skirts and tights.
I've seen the Stubbs and Wootton shoes before but never knew exactly what they were! I believe my mom owns a few pairs. You're right, they are absolutely classic!
My Aunt Priscilla had the Belgians. In navy blue and kelly green. Actually she had multiple pairs because in the WASP way, if it works, repeat:).
I love my S&W's. My favorites are black with brown monkeys on them... Classic.
Is Henri Bendel really opening in Northpark???
I had found the cutest pair of Stubbs and Wootton slippers that said "SN" "OB" that I desperately wanted, but when I went to order them, they no longer had that style online! Maybe they'll make them again or I can find them somewhere else? Any ideas?
I wear both of these brands and love them.
I love the pair with the bow!
Stubbs & Wooton are one of my favorite shoe companies ever. My mom has been wearing them for years and has recently got me into them!
I just love the "bow" pair...so cute!
Love this post! Great job, Hopsy!
At the end of August the Southampton store has a fabulous sale.
I love these loafers. I had a cute pair of loafers with an emblem a long time ago of a different brand, but today I have yet to find a replacement that comes close...everything is made so different now-a-days. Maybe I'll look into this brand.
Thanks for sharing.
I love the one with the bow!
p.s. thank you so much for all your hard work in organizing swap partners! I'm excited to start shopping for the swap!
How funny! I was just writing a post about Belgians for tomorrow! I am looking fwd to popping in the shoe shop in NYC. I love them, Stubbs as well. Stubbs has a beautiful shop in Southampton. My mom lives in both & taught me to love & appreciate them too. For a while I was the only one in my circle wearing them but, now it seems a lot of the gals have come around!
I completely agree with your selections!
I was just in Palm Beach (as you know) and I can't believe I forgot to pop in to S&B. Oh it makes me sick...
I love Stubbs and Wooton!! They really are timeless!
I love the Stubbs & Wooton shoes...just love them:)
i love my belgians and my monogrammed s&w's
Oh, I am a huge fan of both those designers- I have about ten pairs of each, and the Belgian Loafers never go on sale,(as far as I know)....but, I have hit the Southampton store of Stubbs and Wooton for some major sales.
Classic! Love!!
These remind me of the old Pappagallo's. I adored them! Thanks for showing me. Too bad I live in Atlanta.
