It is certainly no decorating secret that the smallest pieces can make a room. Old family photos in beautiful silver frames or a collection of antique dishes always give a room life. While sofas and chairs may appear to be what a room is centered around I believe wonderful lamps can also be focus pieces. Though I simply ADORE ginger jar lamps I am also all about gourd lamps! In recent years gourd lamps seem to popping up all over. You find them in just about every color imaginable, they look fantastic is so many settings and best of all they are available at great price points. The world renowned Albert Hadley used a pair in a living room above. Even though this photo shows the entire room (which appears to be huge) the lamps appear to pull everything together. The size of the gourds just works and again a smaller detail that could easily have gotten lost catches your eye.
Victoria Neale used a darling pink gourd lamp in her bedroom in the Washington, DC show house. If the photo look familiar it is because I have featured it before, I just cannot get enough, gourd lamps really can work in any setting!
For instance, wouldn't this Apple Green Gourd Lamp look fantastic on an entry chest? Add a pop of color anywhere in your home and get everyone talking! At $178 I say buy a pair, what a steal! This particular lamp is available in SIX fabulous colors so you are sure to find one that works (I love the yellow and salmon too)!
How could you resist a touch of pink in any room? This Pink Gourd Lamp would be divine in a daughter's room (just like the featured photo), your dressing room or my future blue and pink sitting room!

Now of course I could not neglect my love for all things blue and white. I adore this Blue and White Gourd Lamp and would even put it in my first living room (bye bye ginger jars, hello gourds!). You could even have the smaller size on a kitchen desk or linen chest! The options for gourd lamps are endless!

I really do like the gourd lamps!!! Love the pink and the blue/white ones. I enjoyed looking at the website you posted about. Great lamps!!! Love & blessings from NC!
I love girls bedroom!! So cute!!
It’s amazing how much a lamp can add to a room. I recently replaced my bedside table lamp and love it, it’s my favorite thing in the room!
Cheers,
Bunny!
I love old family photos throughout the house, as well as, antique dishes! These are both beautiful rooms!
I have been using gourd lamps for years - though I've never heard that term. We've had them since we got married and started funishing our own house and you're right, they do pull the room together. Except for my all pink and green guest room (perfect for south Fl and just happens to be my fave colors!), red has been my flow color from room to room - just an accent here or there to connect everything. I have red/burgundy gourd lamps, pink in the guest room, black in our bedroom and they just seem to be the finishing touch! Great post!
I love the white, almost opaque, gourd lamps. I've seen them against brighter walls, and they look great. The blue and white one you posted is amazing, and will definitely be a possibility in my future living room!!
What a perfect post. I am in the market for new bedside lamps.
One of my children knocked over my lamp & broke it...maybe I should get my gourds at Target...
I think I'll take the Albert Hadley living room--with the lamps, of course! Just beautiful.
spot on, per the norm Hopsy! when are you going to write a lifestyle/decorating book?!

I, too, am in love with gourd lamps! I'm considering buying some for our house once we're all moved and settled.
One of the reason we're all seeing gourds everywhere is thanks to the talented Mr. Christopher Spitzmiller and his amazing lamps.

I LOVE that bedroom!
LOVE this style of lighting. It's very chic & stylish, but classic at the same time. And I adore the wallpaper in the bedroom picture! It's too pretty!
Love these lamps! They really can tie a room together. The pink and green bedroom is just fabulous!
Oh I'm a lamp fan!
And those are from Lamps Plus. Wow -- who knew?!
Very nice selections, I have ginger jars that could use some updating! Thanks for sharing :)
I'm obsesesed with gourd lamps. Have you seen the cute ones at www.shadesoflight.com??
Love the lamps and that girl's room is so cute!!
I love gourd lamps and have used them for years. I have a large one in pale green in my living room, a robin's egg blue one in my breakfast room, and one in apple green in my office. Gourd shapes also make great vases -- I have a collection of three crackle glazed gourds in a pale robin's egg blue on my entry table. Now I just need to find a place for the pink gourd lamp you featured!
Love that pink gourd lamp! XXOO
I am loving that second room. Amazing!
