Tonight the very BEST mother in the entire world departs for India. This final phase of the move has been in the works for over six months and I know mother dearest is SUPER excited to get to Dehli. Father is also VERY excited to have her back by his side and I know the pups (who arrived in father's arms after LOTS- think five hours- of negotiating) will be thrilled to see her as well. I am so happy that father has been given such an amazing work opportunity. However, I am a bit sad I can no longer pick up the phone and chat away with the parents. They will call me at least every other day, but still. I am also sad that I will not be able to see mother and father every Easter and Thanksgiving...India is a mighty long way to go for just a three day weekend! Anyway, rather then keeping myself down I am thinking happy thoughts and looking forward to visiting (and having purses made!!!) in June.
I purchased some cheery gifts from Lilly last night that will help me look forward to my trip to India and bring many smiles my way tonight! Here is a sneak peak at two:
This dress will be divine for work this spring or an Embassy party!
Lilly could not get any more Indian, could they?! Pink, orange and elephants...I think the design team knew I would need something to make me smile tonight!

Hopsy, what an adventure awaits! I know you will miss your mother, but think of all that she can share with you about India. Before you know it, it will be June and you'll be on your way too! Keep your head up--and your Lilly on!

India is on my list of countries to visit! I would love to see photographs when you visit and get your reconmendations!
How exciting!
That's so funny- I saw that print and thought it was very India-appropriate for you. Great minds think alike! Keep yourself occupied until your trip (if anyone can do it, I know you can), and have fun. Like GSG said, June will be here before you know it!
You for you for looking on the bright side. I also had my father move away from me to live in Germany for 3 years and he moves to the Middle East for about 10 months every year or so. It is so hard having a parent far away from you. You are a strong woman and will adjust fine, plus you will get to vacation in a fabulous location!
You should look into Skype on your laptop or computer. I live in the Cayman Islands with my parents in the US and my fiance's parents in Ireland - we can call either on skype with a headset on our computer for $.021 per minute on a landline and like $.30 per minute on a cell phone. If your parents get skype on their computer then you can call skype to skype for free! The other good option is Vonage, but it's not as cheap... Just thought you'd like to know - it's a more affordable way for you and your parents to talk as much as you like!!! And if you use skype, you could also get a webcam to use so you virtually could spend Easter with them and them with you!
Hopsy-I know that you will visit in June and thank goodness for satellite phones!!
What a terrific adventure!
My best friend currently lives in Italy and skype is definitely our "girl talk" chat saving grace.
The Lilly is (obviously) beautiful! What a great way to convey your positive attitude about this transition!
Great dress! I think you and your mum look just alike=)
you can be in touch with them online too, I'm sure they enjoy your blog! The time will fly by from now until June. Come and check out my Crate and Barrel giveaway!
bon voyage to your mother!
that is wonderful that your mom gets to finally be back by your dad's side. it's a great opportunity! i know you will miss them though!
Safe travels to your mom, and what a fun place to visit for you! LOVE the new lilly skirt
You two look so much alike! Beautiful!
I second what previous posters have said about skype. One of my really good friends is in the Air Force and is stationed in a base in England. The 5 hour time difference is bad enough for us, but Skype definitely helps. We can talk for an hour or longer, and for me, the cost is no different than it would be to call him stateside. You have to pay for outgoing calls, but incoming calls are free.
LOVE LOVE LOVE what you picked! Poor Mummy! She will be missed!!!!
Safe travels to your mother. I'm sure it will be an adjustment for all, hang in there and June will be here before you know it!
What a grand adventure your family is embarking on. Each change in life is hard but it is what makes life exciting.
Know your parents love you as you do them and that will enable you to get through the times that you are not near by.
Thank goodness for the internet. Perhaps get and ichat system (that is the way that my family is able to communicate with my brothers who live in China and in London, England).
The internet is a wonderful tool. I use Skype all the time to video call my brother in Germany and talk to my husband when he travels overseas.
I have that dress and just love it!
Wishing your Mom a safe trip & many blessings for your parents new home. (So glad the pups got there safely!)
I completely understand the time issues with family abroad. Having lived in Europe with my family in America and having dealt with my dad doing work in Indonesia for a bit of time- it's tough... But it makes for such good adventures!! I am so glad that everyone (including the pups) is safe and sound!
Hopsy, how absolutely exciting! I hope her travels are safe. You have such a positive attitude. I'm sure when you get to visit it will be just wonderful and so historical! Loving your new Lilly!
I know you'll have a fabulous time in June!!! Just think of all of the wonderful outfits to purchase before your trip! That being said, I know how difficult it can be not to have your family near by, so to speak. You and Mother will have loads to catch up on a couple of times a week!
Love the Lilly-you'll look fab in India my dear!
xoxo Sassy
I know that you will miss having your mother nearby! I look forward to hearing of your adventures when you visit her, however, and I know that you have many special times together ahead of you.
I hope you will fill us in on what happened with the dogs. Five hours of negotiating! Wow!
On another subject, I'm so excited to hear your formal Junior League invitation arrived! Would you email and remind me of the date we're going to the orientation?
Thanks!
How exciting for you and your parents. What a grand adventure! I am a little jealous. ;) Take lots of photos and share. :)
Awe, I will keep her in my prayers for safe travels!
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother - I'm sure you will miss her tremendously. But what a wonderful place for you to go and visit them!
Love your new purchases - so cute!
What an exciting adventure for your parents (and for you when you visit!), although I can't imagine being so far away from them - I've always lived no more than 50 minutes from mine! But I can tell you have a good base of friends in Texas and lots of family here in the states so the time will fly by.
You look JUST like your mom!
Have fun!!!
My mom is my best friend, so I know how hard it would be to live continents apart. Remember that your love keeps you close and always together in spirit! Visiting India will be an amazing experience, especially wearing Lilly on the Continent! I wish safe travels for your mother.
Your Mom is so precious! The two of you look so much alike. Like Mother, like daughter!! I know you will miss her so much, but thank goodness for cell phones, blogs and email. Plus, you will love getting to go over there and visit. Your dress and skirt are beautiful! Have a wonderful weekend. Love & blessings from NC!
Oh it's so hard to say goodbye to your mama! Mine lives in another state and I can hardly stand it! I can't wait to hear all about your take on India and I will be sending positive travel wishes your way.
LOVE all the outfits... I think it's Lilly esp!
I am in LOVE with that Lily dress!!
Good luck with having your parents moving so far away. Skype is going to be the best answer! I love using the free video chat!
I'm praying that your mother arrives to India safely and also, despite the miles, that you and your parents will remain as close as ever. Have you ever video chatted? I think that's so fun! And it's free! I've been coveting that Lilly dress as well. It's beautiful!
That is a tough one, knowing your Mom isn't just around the corner!
How exciting though! You will be in my prayers..so will your parents!
Safe travels to Mother Dearest!! Glad to hear the pups made it safely.
praying for save travels for maman and what an extrodinary place you have to visit- an embassy party in june- hopsy- that is just incredible- talk about getting to do something that is out of a book!
kHm
Hopsy, I pray for safe travels for your Mom. Love that dress!
That will be hard to have your parents so far away! And not to be able to talk to them whenever you want!
Love that Lilly dress!!
How amazing that you will be going to India in a few short months!! So very exciting! I can't wait to follow along on your blog when you go!
Bless your heart Hopsy! I know that you will miss your mother...but June will be here before you know it!
I'm sure this has been hard for you. Just think of your upcoming visit in June. It's really not that far away!
I would be thrilled to get purses made in another country! I would love to watch them being made. In my opinion, handmade things are SO much better than manufactured goods.
Hope you're not too sad about your parents' departure - I hope their journey went well. You have such a special relationship with your Mom - you are lucky. I'm sure the miles won't alter that at all! India will be such an adventure for you - how exciting!!
I love that skirt! Can not wait til the spring merchandise actually arrives in our local Lilly store.
Collar's Up!
