Grosgrain Vases!

Tired of your vases looking like this??

I personally am not one to save vases from arrangements. A few of the lower, round and square are good every now and then, but I am really not a fan of the tall or colored vases. I say donate them to a hospital or pass them on to a coworker. In my opinion there is no sense in keeping what you might only someday maybe use, but that is just me. However, there is a future for your low square and round vases now! In a few simple steps you can make them into this preppy, fun, unique piece:
With several yards of grosgrain you can spruce up all those vases! Pick a color or pattern you love (I buy my solid grosgrain on Amazon in 50 yard rolls and they have great, basic colors for next to nothing) and go to town. In fact, I think you could even do two colors (pink and green anyone?) and wrap both around creating a stripe effect. Start from the bottom and use just a dab of hot glue to secure the ribbon in place. Wrap your grosgrain all the way up and around the vase making sure to cover up you glue spot- double wrap there. Stop when you have about two more rows to do and try to end on a corner (there should be excess ribbon for the bow). Now, take another strand of grosgrain and start wrapping from the top downwards until you meet the first strand of ribbon. You should have enough excess ribbon to tie a knot and bow! Now you are all done and have a darling vase to use as a centerpiece or for a home grown gift!
If you prefer an easier version of this project simply use one ribbon and go all the way to the top of the vase. Finish on a corner and use a small dab of glue to secure the ribbon in place. Cut another strand of ribbon (in a contrasting color perhaps) and tie a bow. Hot glue your bow on to the vase where you ended your wrapping to hide any errors. Simple as pie and CUTE as can be! I hope you enjoy this project and that all those old vases can be given a new look! It is easy and fun and is sure to be a great way to usher in Spring!
