Last week I received a delightful note from mother. She had contacted the lady that did all my smocking when I was little and found out she has an etsy store!!
H,
This is the link for Lynn Everett’s smocking shop on Etsy. It is called SewLadybug. She finished all of your smocking & Maryann’s, as well as doing quite a bit for you once we left Americus. All those pretty dresses & outfits you wore were done by Lynn.
Lynn is so very talented and has the most darling (and affordable) items in her shop! You can also contact her with special requests should need me. She is so very talented and willing to work with you.
Wouldn't this baby bonnet be the sweetest little gift for a newborn? Or , for all you readers that are expecting it would be the perfect addition to a 'going home' outfit!
Sweet Little Bo Peep! Mother loved to dressed me in theme smocking , aren't they just the cutest?
Whoops for some odd reason I choose the back view of this sweet dress. Well, you are able to see that Lynn does not skimp and is perfection all around!
No little girls ever looked sweet than when they were dressed in a pink smocked dress!
I love the sleeves on this dress. In fact, when talking to Preppy Pettit she even mentioned that long sleeve dresses are a wonderful investment and I totally agree. They can be worn for years as the sleeves go from full length to three quarter to short! How great is that?!

My mother used to hand smock my clothes when I was a little girl. I still have some of them!

Thank you! I am going to go to her store RIGHT NOW!
Oh MM, i just thought about you. I was going through our Office Depot catalog at work and came across the Sharpie page. Low and behold, they have the limited edition pack that contains pink lemonade. You might want to get on their website and check it out=)
How beautiful!!! I used to smock for both of my girls and I still have all their special dresses and hairbows. It's ironic that you should show these smocked things, because I just went last week to see what is new at our local smocking shop. I have been out of the loop for awhile with smocking, but I may need to brush up, as my friends are having Grandchildren and I hope to have some one day.
Have a great weekend. Love & blessings!
love smocking, totally my childhood in a handbasket right there :)

Thanks for the link. There is nothing sweeter on a little girl than a smocked dress and a big ole hairbow.
Oh, this brings back so many memories. I have been lurking on your blog for some time (although, I think I posted once before, ages ago). I've been enjoying your posts thoroughly. My mother used to handmake my dresses and then had a neighbor do the smocking (and vice versa). They were such darling clothes!
In any case, thought you'd like to know. I got word from someone who is associated with the retail industry and works frequently in Paris. She did report that the owners of Catherine have retired and sold the business. She's headed over there this week and will report back any findings. Hopefully it means a reincarnation! I'm going to be in Europe this summer and am hoping to stop in - keeping my fingers crossed.
My mom used to dress me in those, too! And I ALWAYS had a matching bow.
She still has a lot of my dresses "just in case" I have a girl.
So lovely!!! ¡¡Me encanta!!
Those are so precious! Thank you so much for sharing this.
I still have all of my smocked dressed that my mom did for me when I was a girl. She also used to make me matching dresses for my American Girl Dolls so I could take my dolls to church with me on Easter. If I can find the picture I will try to post it!
Have a great weeekend.
Oh I wash my 2 would still wear smocking. I'm glad I got smocking & saddle shoes in while I could!!
I have several of my smocked dresses. So classic. Throw on a big hairbow ;) and its perfect!
Oh I loved putting PD in the smocked dresses! Heirloom pieces for sure :-)
Thank you so much for this resource. I love all of those dresses so I need to head over to her shop. I loved smocked dresses!!
I'm going to have to bookmark her site now that I have a niece! One just doesn't get to shop for enough smocked items when one is a mama to boys. :)
My mom still has all of the smocked dresses my sister and I have! I think it will be fun when (if) G and I have girls and they can wear some!
these are SO cute!!!!
Oh my.I LOVE smocking. It reminds me of little prairie children or something--sweet and innocent. I loooooove smocking.
This is such a timely find! My mom and I were just talking about buying a smocked bonnet for someone's new baby.
My grandmother used to be in the dress business (couture) but used to hand smock my clothes and my Mom's when we were young. The items are beautiful.
I love smocked dresses! My grandmother smocked them for me when I was little and luckily my mom has saved them for me. Little girls in smocked dresses with big bows are just so precious! I'm so glad they are still a classic.
Thank you so much for this link! I'm expecting (and hoping for a girl) and will DEFINITELY make use of this site.
Love your blog!
Thank you so much for posting this!!! Mrs. Lynn made lots of dresses for my older daughter, I even had a couple of trunk shows at my house, but I lost her number. So, again thank you! She & her DIL do wonderful work. How wonderful that ya'll once lived in GA.
Oh, my daughter's use to wear darling little smocked dresses--love them. My favorite was a santa and sleigh scene. Miss those days....
Awww, smocking! I just found your blog, I ADORE it!! I'm gonna follow, if you don't mind! :) My mama smocked little outfits for my brother and I when we were little. I still have them, although looking back, they are a little "Little House on the Prairie," but that's the 80's for ya, I guess.
Have a great night!!
I will be placing an order for mIni K!
Love the smocking post! I have 3 boys and only 1 girl so I'm a little smocking deprived but plan to do more of it in the future!

How cute!! My mom taught me how to smock in high school, where I started making gowns for premies at the Children's Hospital. I cannot wait for my friends to start having children so I can start smocking again!
This post makes me sad because my girls are too big for smocked dresses now! When they were little I used to smock for them and I also had a wonderful lady who would do more elaborate smocking plates for me. On of my favorites were these precious matching dark denim jumpers with the Wizard of Oz characters smocked across the front. I thought that was so clever since my younger daughter is named Dorothy - LOL.
I didn't know you lived in Americus. I am from Georgia and have lots of roots in South Georgia. My sister lives in Tifton (about an hour or so from Americus).
Hope you're feeling better!
OH goodness thanks so much for this post. I have a little girl right now (4 months) and I have been searching for this very thing!
Hopsy, did you used to live in Americus, GA? I did too! I am certain this is where my mom got my dresses from. Such a small world. I adore your blog. Thanks for this walk down a sweet memory lane.
