I thank God for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives so we don`t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives so we don`t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
These are lyrics of a verse of one of my favorite songs of the moment. Whenever I hear the song it always makes me stop and give thanks for this country, those who serve and our President. With the inauguration just one week away it is a good time to remember how great this country is! In a week we will all watch history unfold as President Obama is sworn in to office. Whether or not your voted for our new president I believe it is our duty as Americans to stand behind our leader. You may not agree with every decision the President makes, but we must be respectful and offer our support to him. We are so blessed to live in America and we must never forget that. We are surrounded by men and woman who are willing to serve and give their lives so that we can live our own. We are so incredibly lucky!! So, next time you are having down day just remember how blessed you are!
In keeping with the theme of the President, I could not resist sharing this sign:

I drive by these multiple times a day and they always make me smile! I am so excited to live in the same city as the President and Mrs. Bush and am ready to welcome them home with open arms!

Yes! I am so excited for President Elect Obama to officially become President Obama!! I know he'll be able to make the difference we sorely need after these last two terms. (Sorry, but I'm not a Bush fan at all!)
Thank you for reminding us that we are so very lucky to be in the "land of the free and the home of the brave." ;)
I love the sign! I'm a huge Bush fan - lucky you for being in the same city!
Well said.
Great post. I love those signs - what a great Welcome Home!
I found you through another blog & so glad i stopped by.
I love that song. It's by my absolute favorite band. I've been a fan of Zac Brown for almost 2 years & so thrilled they're getting the radio play & attention they deserve.
And everything else in your post was very well said too.. couldn't agree more!
well said! I so miss Texas. We are all so lucky to live in this great country!
Love me some ZBB! Brings back the good ol' days of college watching them play in little college dive bars all over GA!
Very well-said!
Check out my blog when you get a chance- I gave you an award!
I love this post. These signs are another demonstration of how thoughtful and caring the people are who make up this wonderful nation. :)
Out here in DC it's all about President-Elect Obama (which I couldn't be happier about)...but it sure is nice to see the signs welcoming President and Mrs. Bush back home. Thank you for sharing. and for being so supportive of (and encouraging others to be supportive of) our new President.
I saw one of those signs the other day and was going to post it as well..today! I'm glad I saw your post first! Sometimes I think we are twins on the same wavelength!
Great post...I'm missing DFW as I speak looking at that Bush sign!
I love, love, love Zac Brown Band. Chicken Fried is a song about all that is good in this country :)
That makes me happy to see those signs welcoming them home...its been tough on both of them, especially in the last few months with all the criticism, etc. No matter what your politics are, you have to admit that the Bush family is a class-act family all the way!
How very exciting!
Very true H! I believe in standing by the President, regardless of if he had my vote or not. Tell us how the welcome home festivities go!! Xoxo-BLC
Great post! It makes me smile :-)
Oh how I love President Bush and First Lady Laura, so glad to see your wonderful state is being so welcoming!
You're so right - we are so blessed to live in such a wonderful country! I went to the inauguaration parade for Bush when I lived in DC and it was just amazing to watch and think about the peaceful transition of power that we take for granted. great post!
What a cute sign, I love it!!! And I love how welcoming Texas is being. Great post and lesson for us all.
I am so happy to see that sign. I have felt SO SORRY for president bush the past few days during his "exit interviews."
i hope he will be welcomed back into "public society" with open arms!
Great post, very well said :)
I love, love, love that sign! I am so jealous that you get to live so close to President Bush and Laura. I am still a huge President Bush fan!
What adorable signs...if I lived in Texas, in their town, I would have a sign for sure!!
I love that sign, what a nice gesture. I will miss the Bush Family! :(
We are truly blessed to live the USA. God bless America.
It's exciting to see history being made but I love "W" :)
I Love that particular verse!! When it came on today I turned it up...its a perfect verse!
I adore "W". It warms my heart to see that sign and I am sure it will make George and Laura feel wonderful... I agree about supporting my President no matter who he is - but I can tell you that I surely didn't vote for the President-Elect. But --- how fortunate we are to be able to openly say whom we voted for! Thanks Hopsy for this post!
I agree with your comments about our President, although I did not vote for him. I love the sign welcoming George and Laura. I know they will enjoy living there. My Mother is from Texas and I have spent some wonderful times in Texas!!! Thanks for your great comments. We all need to be reminded how blessed we are to live in such a wonderful nation.
Love & blessings!
I love that song! It makes me dance every time I hear it. :)
Awww, the wonderfully graceful Mrs. Laura Bush will be close to heart and home. She is such an amazing lady.
Love the Bush sign! Love Dallas too! I'm a Virginia girl with cousins in Dallas and visit there often. Love your blog...what a great name! I gave you an award on my blog:

What a great sign :) Love it! I think the Bushes have been treated so terribly by the media and America in general. I am pleased to see a welcoming sign for their arrival back home to Texas!
Agree 100%!
Fantastic post. Love me some ZBB!!
I love the sign welcoming the Bush family home! I feel like he has been treated very unfairly and I hope he is able to get a much needed break.
