Next weekend I am attending the annual Cotillion Club Casino Party! Even though this will only be my first year attending I know it is going to be such fun. It is not at all a gambling event (which is good because I am not much into that myself), but a fundraiser and mingling event! The attire for the party is cocktail chic. I had thought about wearing a black, velvet, strapless dress from J Crew that I bought for a 2006 Kappa formal, but then stumbled on to the J Crew site this morning and found the above dress. The color is so stunning, so me, and I love the style. I actually do not own anything in this style, but the cut is similar to that of a shift dress in that it is straight so I thought I would take the plunge and try it. Since the event is exactly one week away and J Crew is offering free shipping this weekend I did not think there could be a better time to scoop it up. I just hope the size I ordered properly fits and that the dress does in fact arrive in time!!

So cute! I love JCrew...I have to be careful though because if I step into a store or visit the website I never leave without purchasing something! I am sure it will be as cute in person as it is in the photograph!
Very cute, I tried a very similar dress from Banana Republic this winter and it was so ill fitting! I've found that that can be a problem with B.R sometimes. I've never had a problem with J Crew though so I'm sure this dress will look fabulous on you!

Fundraiser? These parties were never fundraisers for the ten years I attended. When did the club become non-profit? If so...cool. I am going to e-mail an officer, and if so, pay my alumni dues!

I just got this dress in the mail yesterday. I ordered a 0 and it is way too big on me. I am 5'2 and about 108 and I found the fit to be a little bit like a sack on me. It just hangs on me and there is no real shape to the dress.
I really wanted this dress to work out b/c I bought it for a fundraiser event as well. The neckline is very pretty and I love the ties on the back that can be made into a bow. I ordered it in the fuchsia and it is such a lovely bright pink.
Hopefully, your dress will fit you better. I am sure it will be perfect for the Casino.
I remember those Cotillion parties. Slipper Club too. Just saw my old directories in a box the other day.
