I LOVE LOVE LoVe Toss! In 2009 I want to volunteer at a high school near the college I attend and lead a youth group or help out with their campus ministry!

Wow! How generous of them.

Well, this seems like so little, but our friends are moving to Ukraine to teach at an orphanage school and we have pledged to help support them financially. I know that isn't very active, but they need all the support they can get.

I love that you have to add something to "enter".

In 2009 i'm going to continue to volunteer at the Dana Farber Cancer hospital in Boston, but this year I will try to attend every event and even become a big sister to one of the cancer patients like I have in years past! I stopped doing the big sister part of it becuase mine past away and it was very tough on me. But I know how happy I made her and that is all i needed to know!

Thank you for letting me know about the people who make headers and designs! What a great giveaway!

In 2009 I am planning on becoming a volunteer at a local nursing home. I love meeting the elderly and hearing about their lives. If I can make just one person have a better day than that makes mine that much better.

I love the weekender bag! In 2009 for all my friends and whatnot I'm buying them Tom's shoes because for every pair your buy they make and donate a pair to a child in need! Check 'em out, they're awesome! Great giveaway!

Cute giveaway! Hmm...in the new year I want to do everything I can to become a better teacher. Not only will it make me happy but I know I will be helping children more. I also would like to get my students in the coming year more involved in community service projects. :) Happy Holidays!

WOW! I love both products, how generous of Toss!!

My plan for 2009 is to join a family friend in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity on a monthly basis. I have been meaning to get involved with the organization for ages, and I am finally going to do it!

I am a great believer in food pantries. It gets help to those who need it quickly, with little overhead or middlemen. I am going to be volunteering at our local food pantry - helping to organize food on the shelves and to bag food for pickup.

Hello Kappa, I teach third grade at an all Boys' school, so I like to think I give back everyday. I try to go the extra mile and be kind and polite to everyone I see. I believe in teaching and leading by example. I plan to give back by donating clothes, and books to our school drive. Thanks, Becs

Oh WOW!! Those quite generous gifts.. I love what I do for a living- running a non profit that serves inner city kids- because every day I know that I make decisions that have an impact on kids' futures. In the New year I hope to exceed my fundraising budget so that I can help more kids that we planned. I hope to be a good role model to them and live up to their high expectations of me. xo

We will be participating in a program that sends U.S. high school students to the Far East to help teach students there about Christ and spread the Gospel in part of the world which so desperately is in need of hearing about His grace and salvation!

thank you for the generous give away. One thing I'm going I be doing is based off of what I'm doing tonight. Tonight I'm writing the acknowledgments section of my dissertation. This is a moment 5 and a half years in the making. As I've planned what to write and who to thank, I've realized how much different teachers helped guide me to where I am today. I am going to send each of them a copy of the section along with a note of how they've impacted me. On that note I want to start being a volunteer tutor for public high school kids. I want to be able to help others like those teachers helped me.

ohmy! that weekender bag is adorable! In 2009, i really want to step up my giving back efforts.

my mother passed away in 2003 from a brain tumor so I really want to participate in the annual brain tumor walk/run at Soldier Field this year and raise money to research.

I also really want to volunteer at a soup kitchen like I used to in high school as well as do Habitat for Humanity.

I am a Teacher for the Deaf and this coming year I plan on doing more home visits to encourage the parents to use sign language in the home.

I need one of those to match my rolling duffel.

In 2009 I am organizing a career closet for the local women's shelter. This "closet" will include career-styled clothes for women who are victims of domestic violence to "borrow" when they go on job interviews. As you probably know, most women who find their way to a shelter usually do so with nothing more than the clothes on their back. Also, most women were forbidden by their abuser to work (one way they were controlled) so even if they were able to grab a few things before they left chances are they don't have anything suitable for the workplace.

The women's shelter here does not have anything like this available on site. They usually send the women to Goodwill to pick out things, which is OK for the long run but I plan to create a one-stop shop that includes suits, shoes, stockings, handbags, etc. to make it easier for them.

I love your blog you always have something new and fun to report! In 2009 I am going to continue my volunteer efforts with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Each year I voluneer at their summer camp as a camp attendant, essentially being the eyes and ears for a child with MD for a week. I am crossing my fingers I can make it to the telethon next year with Jerry Lewis - such a fun time!!! Merry Christmas!

In 2009, I hope to volunteer at our Children's Hospital. I have volunteered there before, and loved it. I know personally how depressing and down you can get while you are in the hospital, so if it's just spending time with the patients I just want to bring a little cheer to their day!

Cuuuuute pattern!

In 2009 I'm going to hit my "use or lose" cap on vacation time with about 90 extra hours. Instead of going on vacation, I'm donating the extra hours to our company "pot" that is used to help people under extraordinary circumstances who run through their own leave.

This year I am volunteering at a riding facility that works with children special abilities & teaches them to ride to the best of their ability. I'm super excited to give back something that has given so much to me over the years.

Oh my 2009 alraedy has big plans. I of course will continue advising my sorority chapter but I have committed to help them more than ever before too. We really want to increase our philanthropic efforts and they need old people (read: me....yes in the college world I am not considered old) to show them how to really make a difference. I've also re-joined the Junior League (I was a member, then transferred up here, then took a year off and now am all about it again and can't wait until Jan!). And I am determined to find a church that I love up here. I've not had one that I really felt at home in for many years. I'm a girl on a mission!

I'm chairing a project involving a Christian inner city school. The children are so eager to learn. We are providing them with opportunities that they might not have otherwise encountered. It's my goal that we can really make a difference.

I hope we can all strive to make giving part of our personalities. It feels good to give!

My youngest sister just had baby #3 in 3 1/2 yrs. The first two are boys and this new little guy is a little boy. So three energizer bunnies. I have been taking #2 son out at least once a week if not more for close to two yrs. In fact just yesterday my husband and I had little Master Emmett for the whole day. He feels his position in the family has been usurped. The older little guys likes being with mommy and Emmett has energy to burn. The #3 son is just days old. My sister needed to get some rest and still be there for her newborn. My mother stated Emmett wanted to go out and about. I came in and my husband and I kept him with us for the day. According to my sister he felt like king because the attention was all on him. He didn't have to share us with his brothers. I have a special bond with Emmett and I love seeing him smile.
My sister is a nurse and she quit her job back in 2000 when my other sister became sick with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and became the other sister's private duty oncology nurse for almost 2 yrs during all the treatment and recovery. This same sister has helped me with the DVT that I live with. She did go back to work until a few weeks before she had her first child. So While I am helping my nephews I feel like it is helping me too.
(Sorry so long!)

I have loved the toss designs since you first mentioned them on here. I love reading all of these plans & ideas...and it has my mind spinning. My main focus next year will be how to instill an sense of giving/service in our children (3 & 5). We hope to work with the local Ronald McDonald house so they (esp the 5 yr old) can see how her outreach can affect even a child her age. A neighbor of ours recently spent a lot of time in & out of the RMH at CHOP...and she sings their praises as a life line.

how awesome! i plan to give more in 2009 by really taking time out for friends and being willing to find new friends, as well. i find that i sometimes don't stop long enough to just BE with friends...listening, just sitting, etc. is just as good if not better than talking all the time! i also plan to work more in my church to help it grow!

does following you in my google reader count for a 2nd entry? b/c i've done that for a long time... =)

Hi sweets! Besides joining the JL-Plano, I'm volunteering at the McKinney Humane Society as well as Operation Kindness, which is located in Carrollton. I don't know if this was spreading the love for ALL mankind, including our furry babies, but my heart definitely goes out to those who do not have a voice of thier own. I recently came across a story of a sweet Yorkie baby girl who's previous owner abandoned her on a park bench with one can of food. She was too scared to jump down, so she stayed there in the freezing cold until someone samaritan rescued her. My goodness, WHO would do such a thing? It's stories like these that let me know that volunteering for animals is where God wants to me to be. thanks for this giveaway! That weekender bag is soooooo cute!

Hi Kappa Prep! What a wonderful thing Toss is doing! I know, this doesn't count as 2009 yet, but I am passing out Christmas wreaths and decorations, etc to people in need this year (I'm also planning on doing it next year and many many years to come!). So many of us get wrapped up in the parties and gifts, we forget what the holidays are really about!

My hope is very simple...Hub and I have been blessed with wonderful friends and family who have stepped up to the plate over and over again, doing whatever they can to help us through what has turned out to be a period of great difficulty on several levels. I want to be in the position, by this time next year, to be the one doing the helping. I would like to be able to give back to the amazing people who have given so much.

I have been a guidance counselor at a wonderful school near the beach; lots of gifted students and parents. However, I feel that something has been missing! I believe that if you are to be truly blessed, then you must be a blessing to others. So, I've moved to an inner city school where the students are really needy and need to be loved! It's both a reward and a challenge!
I think a toss design bag would help me carry my "stuff" and bring some beauty to my office!

In 2009 during the 2nd week of January i'm flying up to New York to single-handedly organize an event for the Relief Organizations for the Victims of Disasters from the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster. (With help from my friends and other people in the organizations). I'm taking a week out of school to do so, because it's something i feel very passionate about. I'm also doing volunteer work for the May Clinic.

This is a small and personal contribution, but my best friend's mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer and we are going to decorate her hospital room with the ambiance of her favorite restaurant, and bring her food from there.

I also did volunteer work with the The Arc of the United States charity, but i don't want to say i'm doing that for sure this year because they tend to have a lot of volunteers and might now even need me! But i will without a doubt get in contact with them again.

parkaveprincess said...

as i am sure it is with y'all, the economy downtour is depressing. even though i'm in law school (and also facing being strapped for cash and loans not as plentiful), i wanted to help others as best i could. i've been volunteering my legal services to help those who are being evicted from their homes or whose homes are in states of foreclosure. these individuals are so worthy, but cannot afford legal representation. just meeting and talking with them as been a reward in itself. i pray for quick relief and an upturn.

Now that I have turned 40 this year and no longer have to work, I am going back to school to become a nurse. Having worked 20 yrs in long term care, I now have the time to offer elderly people the care and respect that they deserve. This has been a shock to my family, but for me it is a way to give back for all the happy years I have spent with the elderly. I start school Jan 20th, 2009. I remember when Hurricane Katrina forced people out their homes and my husband was at College Station as a volunteer nurse R.N. on one of the critical floors, and I wanted to give more help than I had knowledge to do so. Now as a nurse I can offer that support.

Also, don't know if this counts - but, my mother, her best friend, my best friend and i plan to do the Avon Breast Cancer Walk together in May!! I can't wait to be a part of all that woman-power :)

Love this giveaway. We are starting early on our good deads. Today we are putting together a package for a student in my sons class and his family. My son found out that her dad lost his job and that he is in the hospital and might get to come home CHristmas eve. We were not sure what they needed so we got books toys and a Walmart gift card. I have my own monogramming business and my son wanted me to make blankets for both girls in the family. We are not going to tell them who they are from just some Santa's ELves here in our town.

Thanks for the great giveaway. Merry Christmas

I already started by "adopting" two families this Christmas. One with my friends and one with my family. We bought and wrapped lots of Christmas presents for underpriveliged children and their families.

I really feel the spirit of Christmas this year and want to turn this intoa tradition and get more people involved next year and start spreading the love throught the whole year, not just at Christmas!
