I'm Dreaming of a Pink and Green Christmas!

Last night C and I made a quick trip to Home Depot to pick out our Christmas tree. This is the second year we bought and decorated a tree, but this year we upgraded and bought the 7 foot instead of the 5.5. Who would have guessed we could have added some cheer to our apartment for just $20? That is right our lovely tree was a mere $20...that is less then a meal out! Home Depot is the way to go!
Anyway, as you could have guessed we have a very pink and green tree. Last year I bought loads of the pearl, glass ornaments and tied pink and green polka dot and striped grosgrain bows on them.
If you are looking for the perfect way to preppify and make your tree as close to a Lilly tree as possible this is the project for you! In fact Michael's has boxes of glass ornaments (I just picked up some pink and green ones to add even more preppyness to our Fraser Fir) on sale for $3.99 this week. You can load up on grosgrain their or from your favorite online boutique (or eBay seller- I have the BEST preppy, ribbon seller on eBay).
While I used mostly pink and green ribbon I think red and green polka dots and stripes would be a great way to keep it festive. If you are more traditional why not use a beautiful gold?
This is a wonderful project for an evening at home while watching your nightly lineup. Plus, it is inexpensive, easy, but it looks great!
I think our tree looks wonderful. Now I just need to finish my shopping and get my presents wrapped and set under it!
PS- Do not forget to enter my GIVEAWAY!! See the post below for details!

What a beautiful tree!!
Hubby and I have been going to Home Depot for our trees since we married 10 yrs ago. It is a great place for great trees.
You've made your place so cheery with the tree.

Beautiful tree!!! I love the idea of just the ribbons being colorful. For years now we've done our pink (and other colors) in ornaments but I may have to do silver/white/clear balls next year with cute ribbons. :) If you have a chance you should check out our tree. I think I posted the photos on Thanksgiving. :)

I AM SO JEALOUS - A "Tabletop" tree (appx. 1.5 feet) and mini-stand costs $55 in DC! Perhaps I will drive out to a Home Depot in search of a better tree at a better price?! Wish me luck! Yours looks marvelous!

I love the white ornaments with the different colored grosgrain ribbon. So preppy & festive! We have 2 trees! One is all Christopher Radko & ornaments the children have made in the living room. The other is small & in the dining room...it's MY "Lilly" tree. It's where I keep my growing collection of Lilly ornaments. Pink & green ONLY! :)
I looove your tree. It is gorgeous!!

Very pretty. I wish that it was OK to keep a tree up all year long. They add so much cheer to a room.

I gotta say again how happy I am that your dad is safe. The original reports of what went down in India were scary, but now that there is more information it's down right frightening.

The tree looks gorgeous! It reminds me that I need to go ahead and get out my pink tree. I love the ornaments. Last year I decorated some for my friends and tied on a grosgrain ribbon and painted polka dots and a monogram on them. I'll do a post about it sometime so you can check it out!

that is such a great tree! i am jealous of those of you with real trees, nothing beats them...their smell, their feel, their look...however, it would kill my poor husband so we are fake family.

thanks for the birthday wishes!

looks like you and nina had a great time together, i am so glad y'all were able to meet in real life! we should start planning a preppy blog get together in some central location!

I love love love your Christmas tree. It took a while to convince my poor husband to put pink ornaments on the tree. So this past Christmas I bought these ornaments and I just couldn't think of what to do with them. You gave an awesome idea and it came out great. Thanks for sharing!
