I Ride

For the past month I have been debating on what boots to buy. Well, I have been incredibly indecisive which is unusual and am relaying on you all to help me! I am sort of over Uggs. I mean they are super comfy, but I live in Dallas and am thinking I want to step it up and go more chic. Plus, did I ever mention I was a beginner, champion rider when I lived in Honduras? Riding boots are a must and will take me back to the days of spending three plus hours on a horse and galloping through sugar can fields! The look I intend to go for is the middle look (I guess that might be sort of obvious, but hey you never know!) and the options are as follows:
Lilly Pulitzer Hold Your Horses boots ($155.20 at 60% off)
I actually ordered these on Saturday morning for $99, but sadly got an email that they had sold my pair! Talk about depressing! I mean I finally decide and then it all falls apart. I have not yet bought a pair because I thought this might be a sign, but as you know I am always a bit partial to Lilly!

LL Bean Town and Field Boot in Nut Brown ($139 plus Hopsy has a $25 gift card to LL Bean so really they will be $104!)
Clearly these are the most economical option and I LOVE the color. I mean it can be worn with so much! This is what I think I am leaning towards, but at this rate I am obviously not set on anything.

Tory Burch Winnie ($150 on sale)
I am ALL about TB and adore just about everything she designed, but these are my least favorite by far. I think it is due in part to the fact that I saw these at the NM outlet in September for $85 in my size and neglected to buy them. This is what happens when mother does not always answer her phone. Thank goodness I now have BBM!!
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Any advice you might have will go a very long way dear friends!

All are lovely, but I agree that the LL Bean look as though they can really go with a wider selection of clothing! I adore the Tory ones, also! Fabulous finds!

when i tried on the tory ones, they were wellies at the bottom, so they looked a little funny combined with the leather, id go with the lilly or the llbeans! but, the ralph lauren may boot (piperlime.com) is exquisite...

I vote for the Tory Burch ones! That is so cool you lived in Honduras!

I'm definitely partial to my Uggs...however, I love the Lily ones.

My favourite are the #1.

I like the Tory Burch's, got 'em they are super cute and actually comfortable!

The Lilly pair is great (I saw them in one of the stores...May I suggest you call ALL the stores if you really want these b/c the stores' supplies are always different then phone/catalog/website.

If that doesn't work, may I suggest option 2. Although 3 does have the "name", just KNOWING you are over paying is sickening!

Go 2!

They are all lovely! Go with number 1 or 2!! Good luck!!

They had those lilly boots at the sale. did you see them? Were they more? I am drooling over those tory boots.. And am thinking they might work as well. I think you should go with your gut love and get what you want~ perhaps you can find hte lilly boots on ebay? xo

I think the Lilly ones are fabulous, but I love the look of the LL Bean ones too. Sometimes buying for a label only makes it look like we're trying too hard, though I bought some tb sandals this summer just for the name!

My vote is for the LL Bean pair!

i like the tory boots the least. they are a bit too logo-ed in my opinion.

I like them all, but the first two are my favorites!! The LL Bean ones are such a classic color!

I like the LL Bean pair the best (the Tory's appear to have sold out - could not find them on the website). The LLBean pair is the most classic (and I LOVE the color).

You already know how MUCH I LOVE my Riding boots!! I love the Lilly's but I also do love the TB's and $150 is so cheap! I looked at the TB's on ebay and then read the fine print and they were rubber... so I didn't buy. But these are clearly leather - I think they are great. As for the Uggs, I live in the Midwest so they are still a must and since I had a pair well before they were popular I consider myself Grandfathered In! hah! Also, I can't remember the name of the store at NP... but I tried on 2 or 3 pairs of Riding boots there and they were fabulous. I'll try to remember. Well, my 2 cents turned into a few bucks I think but there it is. Good Luck - can't wait to see the winner. xoxo

i love the quilted look of the lillys, but they & the torys look a little big at the ankle. i am obsessive about my boots fitting & not making me look like i have cankles. so i'd go w/ the LL Beans. but i have really small ankles, so maybe that's just me. =)

p.s. check these out too http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/44585011/c/60.html
When I was shopping at NP two people stopped me to ask about them and the guy at Coach thought they were Prada.

I have the LP boots, and I really like them...BUT honestly. I have a pair of the LL Bean boots, and they are MUCH MUCH MUCH more comfortable than the Lilly ones.

...and I love LP just as much as the next girl...but sometimes comfort is necessary.

I want riding boots b/c I ride too & love all things equestrian. Buuuut the only thing that is holding me back is I'm not sure how to wear them?
What are your plans for these boots Hopsy? I'm not sure how to wear them?

I think the LL Bean pair is my favorite - that color is very neutral and would work well with other browns, navy, and black.

I like the Tory Burch ones too, but I agree I would have trouble paying $150 if I had seen them for much less.

I have the LL Bean boots, and I love them. I wear them all the time to work, and I am on my feet ALL day. They fit true to size and are very reasonably priced. I am probably going to get the black pair as well now that I have enjoyed the tan pair so much. GL with your decision.

I love the LL Bean ones...and am lusting over a pair of boots myself!

These are all FOXY! Riding boots are so great over skinny jeans - comfortable and always chic, never faddy! Love them all! Have never had Uggs - but at least Riding boots are waterproof - great for torential Texas downpours!

I have had my eye on #1 for a while myself. I would buy those if I were you.

Kim said...

I love all 3, but I think the 2nd ones are my favorite! They are so timeless and classic...they will never go out of style and you can wear them forever!

TCP said...

I think I like them in the order you have posted them!

Belle said...

i've got to say that I am loving the lilly boots. They seem to have a better shape then the other three. The llbean boots come second in my book!

CRICKET said...

since you will probably have them for a while, buy them and compare. i noticed when trying them that some gapped a lot in the back, especially if you have narrow upper calves.

Preppy in the City said...

That is a tough decision. I do love the Lilly, but I am also a fan of the TB. It would be hard for me to pay more for them though if I saw them cheaper earlier in the year....sorry I am not much help! :)

It's a tough choice but I LOVE the LP's. Beautiful and classy!

My vote is for the LL Bean boots. In the Pink online is doing 50% off and free shipping right now though if you go for the Hold Your Horses.

I love these Dovers - http://www.doversaddlery.com/mountain-horse-classic-high-rider-dress-boots/p/X1-38633/cn/9/

Just another idea! L L Beans are nice and you can rely on them being genuinely durable. I would worry that the Tory ones wouldn't last long enough - not saying they aren't of quality, but you wouldn't be able to wear them as frequently...?

BLC :o said...

Definitely the Lilly Pulitzer ones! If not, the Tory Burch ones are precious too. Xoxo-BLC

Preppy 101 said...

They are all darling! I probably would go with the Lilly! Unless it is too big in the calf area since you are so petite.

LL Bean!

The top pair, for sure!

Love them all but I must not lie, I'm a TB fiend... and I love those. GAH thanks for the link!

Mona said...

I like them all, but think my fav are the LL Beans.

Molly said...

I adore three but feel the LL Bean might be easier for day-to-day wear! Good luck!

Pearls and Bows said...

I love the Lilly boots. Please get them so I can live vicariously through you! :)

Petunia said...

I was wondering if the Lilly boots were comfortable. I cannot wear uncomfy boots! Lilly made boots a year or 2 ago that were cheaply made and kind of came apart--I hope these are better! Let us know which you decide on!

I am on my way to this look as well :) I just ordered a pair off Ebay (they were Banana), so stop over as I plan on posting about them bc I really LOVE them. They are the same color as the LL Bean, but they have a buckle at the top.

Also, I ended up finding a pair of skinny jeans at Old Navy in the Dark Wash (I think the style is Diva). They were $30, and they look fabulous with my new boots. I think those will get me started. I am headed to Nordstrom after Christmas to see what they have :)
