Keep safely the memories that we share, the friendships that taught us all to care.
Today might quite possibly be one of the saddest days ever, literally, EVER. For the past 16 years of my life I have spent at least a week at one of the most marvelous places on earth: Camp Greystone. I started at August, the two week session, the summer after I finished 1st grade (in 1991) and went all the way through as a camper and finished out going into my senior year (2002). I then returned to my summer home as a counselor the summer after my freshmen year of college (2004), spent three years counseling my little loves and then last year was asked to be a Hostess for the best (and my favorite) session: Main Camp. Tomorrow is opening day of Main Camp and sadly bff N and I will not be there to greet all our favorites. However, as much as I will miss camp this is for the best. I have put in my years and it is time to move on. Lucky for me all my hard work over the past four summers paid off and my children will hopefully not have to be a 100+ girl wait list when their time to attend nears. For those of you with daughters I strongly encourage you to look into sending them to Greystone, it is a decision you will never regret. Also, just an FYI get them registered ASAP as there is already a huge waiting list for summer 2009 and sessions fill up 1.5 years in advance! Greystone is a marvelous, enriching, christian environment (and half the time it looks like a Lilly country club) that allows girls of all ages to grow mentally, spiritually, physically and socially. There are four sessions offered:
Junior Camp- 5 days (rising 1st grade-rising 5th grade)
June Camp- 3 weeks (rising 2nd grade-rising 8th grade)
MAIN CAMP- 5 weeks (rising 4th grade-rising 12th grade)
August Camp- 10 days (rising 2nd grade- rising 7th grade)
I am more then happy to answer any questions you might have and I can also give you the 411 on who to contact at the office as well as care package ideas, places to stay in the area, stores to hit up near Tuxedo and all the musts a Greystone parent needs to know! I will leave you with some glimpses into the best summers of my life:

June Camp 2005 (Upper Tentalow One) I was such a good role model and even got them to wear pink and green!!

Main Camp 2005 (Upper Tentalow One) These babies were rising 4th graders when I had them, tomorrow they will be in the high tentalows as rising 7th graders!

August Camp 2005 (Lower Tentalow Two) Banquet night!!
Main Camp 2006 (Upper Tentalow One) Corn Roast, we changed people's lives in our matching outfits!
Main Camp 2006 (Upper Tentalow One) Dancing to Do You Believe In Magic and One, Two Step. Don't you adore how they are wearing my Lilly shifts? This night was not only the highlight of my summer, but ranks as one of the top ten best memories ever!

Main Camp 2006 Banquet Night. Banquet was Beauty and the Beast and H, N and I were perfectly cast as the three girls obsessed with Gaston!

August Camp 2006 (Upper Tentalow One) The session my dream of having babies (rising 2nd graders) came true.

Main Camp 2007 (Hostess Cabin) Yes N and I were 22, yes we wear matching Lilly. I wore Lilly everyday in a row for 33 days in last year. Impressive I know. N and I have standards we must uphold at Greystone, we were known for our Lilly (as mentioned in my Lilly post...when Lydia had a break down). D, we will miss you this summer!

Main Camp 2007 (Hostess Cabin) Sunday morning nursery, our favorite time of the week!

WOW what awesome memories!! And you and the girls look so happy in all of the photos :)
The girls in our family are Rockbrook campers, in Brevard NC. My son went to Camp Timberlake in Black Mountain, NC! We LOVE summer camp!
Your pictures are soooo cute!
AHH! i was a greystone girl!! then off i headed to rockbrook as a counselor. i still adore the smell of the mountains in the summer!
Aww, this just makes me want to pack my sleeping bag and leave for camp!
How cute! I've always wondered why camps haven't taken off here in the UK - they would be such a good idea! I'll hvae to ship Caspar over to the U.S. for Summer Camp when he gets older!
What a bitter-sweet time for you. I went to 2 different camps growing up. One in MA the other in NH. I stopped going at 16 and began summering with the family in Kennebunkport. The camp years were fabulous years...LOVE THE LILLY!
sad day for us today my love. At least we have the photos to help us remember our summer expenditures. No one loved mathcing Lilly quite like we did. And I wouldn't have you in my life without summer 2k2!

what precious memories. thanks for sharing.
well, the course is 750 hours and honestly I am sooo irritated with my job-it just isn't challenging or exciting, instead I dread Monday by Saturday morning-no good I know..aren't the pastries so delicious?! can't wait to hear more from you!
My sister in law was a worked at Greystone in the summers too, she loved it!
Oh sugar, that is my hubby work car! He is in the funeral business :)
The little ones in matching Lilly are so darn cute!
Oh, how much fun! I love the girls in your Lilly shift dress. I know you treaure those memories at Camp Greystone. Those are great pictures, and so cute of you!
I wish I had been a better camper because I did a one week camp, and was homesick the entire time at camp. I cried every night.
such adorable pictures - thanks for sharing! it makes me wish i could go back to being a kid ;)
I loved your pictures! What great memories for you
I absolutely love this post! I am going to remember this camp and send my future daughters there--seriously, it sounds amazing! I did Girl Scout camp but it was kind of lame...and there was definitely no Lilly! :)
Sounds like you had a great time...it must be bittersweet for it to be over.
Summer camp is not really something that has ever taken off here in Australia. It would be very sensible though with some many families with two working parents. I know a lot of people at my work struggle to find somewhere enjoyable for their kids to spend the summer while they work. There are a lot of half day sport camps etc, but nothing where kids are looked after for an extended period - and they look like they are having such fun.
Hi! One of my best friends was a Greystone girl. She now has four little girls that she takes there--I think for mommy/daughter camp? Do they have that? Anyway, she raves about it. If I had a little girl, I think I'd be all over it!
Loved all the Lilly shots! adorable!!! :)
I love all the pictures and the matching Lilly! I grew up in Hendersonville, NC, which is close to Greystone! Heather/

I can't wait to look into this camp for my daughter. Thanks so much for letting us in on the secret!
My older son gave me a letter to mail to a friend of his today and I glanced at the address. I kept looking at it and looking at it thinking why does this look so familiar. Finally, I got it!!!! Camp Greystone from your blog. How funny is that. She is there for a month and is an upcoming senior. I don't know if she's a camper or a counselor.
Anyway, what a small world!
Don't know if you received my last bit of info. (I tried emailing but am not sure it went through.) She's from Dallas. Any idea? Send an email to my email and I can send her name to you.
We just got our Greystone DVD in the mail yesterday and BabyGirl watched it 30 times. No joke. She's only 4 1/2...it's hard to believe I'll be sending her to camp in just over a year!
